Rosemary is a Deaf Sign Language Instructor, Peer Educator, and Community Project Coordinator with over 20 years of experience in Deaf empowerment, inclusion, and training. She is also a skilled tailor and embroidery professional with strong expertise in Deaf culture and accessibility consultancy.

Born Deaf, Sign Language is her first language. She is a certified instructor trained through the Kenya Sign Language Research Project at the University of Nairobi’s Linguistics Department under the late Prof. Okoth Okombo. She also holds training in Deaf Christian Leadership from Kenya Baptist Theological College and a Diploma in Deaf Christian Ministry Leadership from DOOR Africa Training Centre.

Rosemary has worked with organisations including Plan International, Handicap International, UN Women, NDI, DIWA, and AJWAMA Cultural Centre, focusing on disability inclusion, gender equality, HIV/AIDS awareness, civic education, and economic empowerment for Deaf and hearing communities.

She has also trained Community Health Volunteers (CHVs) under CDF Embakasi West and coordinated Deaf women’s projects in Embakasi. She has served as a Bible trainer and Deaf ministry leader with DOOR International.

Currently, Rosemary serves as a Deaf Culture and Sign Language Consultant at the Deaf Institute of Communication and Sign Language Training (DICSLT), where she continues to promote accessibility, inclusion, and sign language education for all.
