Elizabeth Wainaina

Elizabeth Wainaina is a highly skilled Sign Language Interpreter with over a decade of experience delivering accurate and impactful interpretation across media, conferences, education, and community programmes. She holds a Diploma in Community Development and Social Work from Mount Kenya University and an Advanced Certificate in Sign Language Interpretation from the University of Nairobi, and is currently pursuing a Bachelor’s degree in Health Science at the University of the People (USA).

She has worked with Royal Media Services and various government and non-governmental institutions, contributing to inclusive communication and accessibility. Elizabeth has also supported high-profile programmes such as the 2023 Political Leadership and Governance Programme (PLGP) and played a key role in developing an online Kenyan Sign Language curriculum.

Her key roles include serving as a Managing Director at Sign Education Africa Limited (SEAL), a Sign Language Interpreter and Trainer in Kenyan Sign Language (KSL) and American Sign Language (ASL), a Media and Conference Interpreter, and a Community Inclusion Advocate.

Fluent in Kenyan Sign Language (KSL), American Sign Language (ASL), Kiswahili, Kikuyu, and other local languages, Elizabeth is known for her professionalism, adaptability, and strong commitment to bridging communication gaps between Deaf and hearing communities.
